2nd International TDP Workshop

Educating for A Globalized World: Transatlantic Alliances and Joint Programs in Business Education and Economics Between the US, Canada and Germany

Tampa, Florida, April 20-22, 2007

The John F. Kennedy Institute of the Freie Universität Berlin and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) jointly invite US, Canadian and German universities to apply for participation in the 2nd International TDP Workshop on joint transatlantic study programs and university alliances in Business Education and Economics. The workshop will take place in Tampa, Florida, April 20 – 22, 2007, prior to the annual conference of AACSB International (Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Business Schools). The TDP workshop is part of the Transatlantic Degree Programs Project (TDP) which investigates the idea of transatlantic cooperation in higher education with a focus on joint/double degree programs; their current status and future prospects.

The goal of the Tampa workshop is to examine if and how transatlantic degree programs in business/management education and economics can be established and thus to provide stimulus to and guidelines for universities on both sides of the Atlantic for creating and implementing such programs. It will bring together senior business education/economics faculty and administrators as well as representatives of government, accreditation and funding agencies and experts in higher education internationalization.

Best practice examples in transatlantic cooperation will be presented and analysed, with experts providing information on curriculum integration, accreditation, quality assurance, marketing/recruitment, and legal and administrative aspects.

For further details please click on: Call for Participation [pdf] / Preliminary Program or contact Matthias Kuder.

There is no workshop fee; food and accommodation from April 20 – 22 will be provided free of charge for a select number of participants. Participants are expected to arrange and cover their own travel. Previous experience with transatlantic degree programs and/or internationalization strategies in business/management education and economics will be used as criteria to assess the choice of workshop participants.

If you are interested in participating in this workshop, we would like to invite you to send us an informal, written application which should contain information on the following:

  • Name, field, position and home institution of the applicant
  • Overview on ongoing involvement with internationalization of business/economics education
  • Future plans for internationalization of business/economics education
  • Any particular activities regarding joint and/or double degree programs past or present
  • Statement of specific motivation for participation in the workshop

Please let us know whether you also plan on attending the AACSB International conference (to take place after the TDP workshop in Tampa, April 22-24, 2007). Please email your application to Matthias Kuder.

Application deadline for applicants from the US and Canada is February 20, 2023.  Confirmation of participation will be issued by February 25.
